PLANNING- FIRST DRAFT REFLECTION

1st draft-  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14nLgAYnzjc 2nd draft-  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvNmFKcgxMw My First Draft Reflection & what I changed My first draft consisted of a montage of summer clips of two girls' summer. The video's representation's are location and gender. The videos starts with the artist 'Kygo', travelling abroad, going to the beach with her friend. Then changing location to a festival, then London, then back to the festival. They meet two boys on the way who shares the rest of their summer with them. The changes I was told to make was: change the font of my logo and the song title, as well as adding the artists name under the song title as they look too basic when the singer starts singing at 0.37 seconds into the song, the change of location needs to match up to the change in the song  at 1.50 seconds, the shot is out of focus and needs to be changed or deleted  remove the next scene of the girls with red eyes  ...

PLANNING- WEBSITE CONTENT

To conform with the expectations of a music video with a dance genre, the website for the artist must have key elements to outline this upbeat/dancey genre. Key elements include: Menu Bar Links-  Home News  Music Videos Tour Merch 2 pages of content- 1 homepage & 1 linked page Original images/videos I have taken of the artist  Introduction biography of the artist  Social Media links Behind the scenes video/ Artist Interview Brand synergy between website and music video Functioning menu bar and links between each pages, buttons font highlights when the mouse goes over it Subscription box at the bottom- name and email details  Awards nominated/won section  Promotion of the new music video These things are expected for the website as it is essential everything is laid out easily for the audience to follow. Each link in the menu bar must be clearly displayed at the top of the page for the audience to see exactly where to find eve...

PLANNING- INTERTEXTUALITY

Image
I decided for the intertextuality of my music video, I would use the 'Hold my Hand' reference from the Jet2Holidays advert. This is because firstly, I chose location as one of my representations. In order to display multiple locations in an effective way, I wanted to use a rememberable and unique way of linking each location to the other. As the artist in my video travels through her summer, from location to location, the 'Hold my Hand' reference is used to represent this in an effective, progressive way. Secondly, in the Jet2Holidays advert, it advertises and promotes the fun and enjoyment the audience gets from following the person holding out their hand, on their holiday. The people featured within the advert ranges from children, to adults, boys and girls. The diversity in the advert compliments my music video as I also chose gender as my second representation, along side location, and both offer diversity, as the advert does. Additionally, my music video is...

PLANNING- NARRATIVE IDEAS

Narrative #1 The song is called 'Younger' and is based on youth, so have decided to base my representation on age. A girls close relative dies and she decides to deal with her grieving process in a positive way by living her life to the fullest and living life while she's young. She books tickets to multiple festivals and goes to them with her best friend. The video will be focused on friendship, and summer fun. Another important representation I have decided to focus on is location as there will be a lot of travelling around in the video, like the plane/coach/train rides to festivals, as well as exploring around the beach/festival atmosphere. The video will end with the girl feeling fully satisfied with her summer and pay respects to her dead relative. The narrative will be cyclical, and will end in the same position of the girl at the relatives grave. Narrative #2 The main representation for this video is Location. A group of friends win a holiday in a competition. ...

PLANNING- MOODBOARD

Image
15. Create a mood board. Write a short entry on why you have used what you have on the board and it  conforms to the expectations of your music genre The song I am creating my music video to is called “Younger”, and the main message echoed throughout the video is “You ain’t getting any younger”. The first image on my mood board is a picture of a grave  and is there to be used as a symbol of the opposite of youth, freedom and happiness which is what the leading female protagonist in the music video has throughout the video . This symbol is used to motivate her to live her life to the full potential, and book a flight so she can go travelling with her best friend, rather than living a life of unhappiness. The following images are an airport and a plane flying through the sky to show their journey to a new, exciting place. The remaining images consist of cliffs over the sea, crowds at a festival, camping, rides and swimming in the sea. All these conventions are...
