PLANNING- MOODBOARD

15. Create a mood board. Write a short entry on why you have used what you have on the board and it  conforms to the expectations of your music genre
The song I am creating my music video to is called “Younger”, and the main message echoed throughout the video is “You ain’t getting any younger”.
The first image on my mood board is a picture of a grave and is there to be used as a symbol of the opposite of youth, freedom and happiness which is what the leading female protagonist in the music video has throughout the video. This symbol is used to motivate her to live her life to the full potential, and book a flight so she can go travelling with her best friend, rather than living a life of unhappiness. The following images are an airport and a plane flying through the sky to show their journey to a new, exciting place.
The remaining images consist of cliffs over the sea, crowds at a festival, camping, rides and swimming in the sea. All these conventions are associated with being away from home, and forgetting your troubles which is the message I am consistently trying to convey in my video. Other messages I am trying to demonstrate throughout is being young, free and adventurous.
I believe the images on my mood board are very positive and present a care-free and bold image of teenagers living their life to the full potential. Additionally, a strong theme I am trying to convey is friendship which is portrayed through the repeated images of girls being united and holding hands. The images of the various holiday locations, as well as boys and girls dancing in crowds compliments my representations of gender and location.

Across the bottom of the board are intertextual references of a holiday companies iconic image of “holding your hand” and guiding you on adventures. The image of your hand being guided in the camera shot immediately attracted me because I want my video to be based around exploring and being united with others round you. Also, the reference being from a holiday company also compliments my video as it is being filmed across seas and abroad, so can be linked in that aspect also.
