Statement of Intent- Website
The function of the website is to promote the new release of the music video, as well as to promote the artist, their music, and release important tour dates. My other main hope of the website is for it to give new music from the artist and exclusive, breaking news to the audience which are all presented on the homepage. These pieces of information will be changed regularly depending on the artists lifestyle, and the events that occurs. I also hope to include an audio/visual link to the new songs and videos being released by this artist.
Within my menu bar, I have planned links to ‘home’, ‘bio & photos’, ‘music’, ‘tour’ and ‘merch’. On the right of my page I will include a 'social bar' with the social media accounts of Soundcloud, Apple, Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The use of social media presence gives the website interactivity and provides readers with the opportunity to give feedback and read closely to the artist. This is a common feature of many other artists and is expected of an audience of 16-25 year olds who would expect links to social media accounts on artists websites.
Within my website, I plan to include a consistent theme of freedom and youth, with images of the beach continuously used throughout the two functioning pages. Other images I plan to include are snapshots from throughout the music video, with images from London and festivals. I have used a bold, italic font which is used consistently throughout the website, and its design isn't too defined, and compliments the images of the sea displayed behind them. The pages that function, with relevant content on are entitled 'home' and 'bio & photos.' The other pages within the menu bar have no relevant content within them and are not intended to be looked at.
Brand synergy is established within the website through visual elements such as snapshot images from the music video, which are also essential to sustaining audience interest. Various snapshots of the artist in the music video will be displayed throughout the website, to show a constant branding of the artist and their music, as well as bringing a sense of immediacy to the audience. I will include a planned integrated link to the video itself on the homepage, as a promotional tool to market the new song.
Additionally, on my homepage there is a tab entitled 'updates', which consist of recent events and awards won by the artist. Due to institutional contexts I would refresh these updates (award nomination, new song, events, tour date) once a change occurred, as the current website is merely a snapshot and will eventually evolve.
