RESEARCH- DUA LIPA WEBSITE FUNCTION ANALYSIS
When first clicking onto Dua Lipa's website from Google, it takes you to this page which is an introductory page into her site. Her name is in huge, bold font with a calm, pastel colour palette, and a background picture of Dua. It gives you an option to enter the official site via a box at the top centre of the page, and when clicking over the box, it becomes highlighted, with a hyperlink to the official site. Additionally, the social media links are boldly displayed at the bottom of the page, allowing easy access to them.
When entering the site, the loading page is blank with Dua's name in the middle. As the page buffers, the writing appears and disappears, and the background colour switches. Here you can see its green, it changes between green, purple, blue, pink and black. These colours and all bold and similar in colour, giving a fun and energetic feel to the website. Additionally, this loading page appears throughout the website, every time a page buffers, or when the audience clicks between tabs or links. The writing is the same font, colour and shape for the opening page and logo.
The 'Enter Site' tab has now lead the audience to the official homepage of Dua Lipa's site, with a significant image go her occupying the whole page, and menu bar clearly displayed at the top. As you can see, the same logo has been used in the top left corner of this page, as was used in the buffering page and introductory page. The use of the thick, black menu bar at the top of the page, with white writing contrasts with the pale pink, and pastel colours used in the background of the picture. This allows the menu
bar to be more significant and easy for the audience to see.
As you place the mouse over each icon in the menu bar, it becomes underlined and creates a hyperlink to take you to that page. Seven links have been placed in the menu bar, each significant categories, e.g. music, news, videos and march store are common features and have been used in many other artists websites. On the music section, it takes you to various album/single/ep covers in order from most recently at the top, to oldest at the bottom, which you can discover as you go further down. As you place the mouse over the cover, the picture flips and allows you to see more information on it, such as whether its an album or single etc. Additionally, it allows you to chose whether you want to download it, buy it or stream it on various platforms such as, iTunes, Google
On the merchandise page, the different items are displayed in a structured order, with the item type and price labelled below.
A neutral colour of pale blue has been used in the background to contrast with the variation of colours of the clothes. Colours including black which has been spread around the page, so the dark clothes haven't been bunched together. The item and price labelled below, which has been centred in the middle of the item, and has a tall and narrow font which is the same used in the logo. The items
of clothing aren't positioned according price or to type of clothes e.g. tops, then jumpers, then hats, but instead are positioned by how the colours look on the page e.g. the black clothes are spread out and the coloured clothes placed in-between.
As you place the mouse over the item of clothing, a link appears, allowing you to click and purchase the item. Additionally, another image appears, either of another angle of the clothing or just another image of the clothing e.g. for the image for some tops flips to an image of the back of the top. Furthermore, the writing becomes underlined, making it apparent which item is being highlighted. This is most likely done to make the item more bold.
On the videos section, a screenshot image of each video is used and placed on the page in an unorganised, yet stylish format. The videos are organised from most recent in the top left corner of the page, and go down to the oldest and the bottom. As you click over the image, the name of the song appears and allows you to be lead to Youtube via a link, where you can watch the video. The images used are from intriguing times in the video, where Dua is looking at the camera and is very intimate with the audience, the images are used from key moments of the video.
The font used for the writing over the images, as well as the opening title in the videos is consistent throughout the entire website, which is a tall and slightly narrow font, and is consistently positioned in the centre.
