PLANNING- NARRATIVE IDEAS

Narrative #1 The song is called 'Younger' and is based on youth, so have decided to base my representation on age. A girls close relative dies and she decides to deal with her grieving process in a positive way by living her life to the fullest and living life while she's young. She books tickets to multiple festivals and goes to them with her best friend. The video will be focused on friendship, and summer fun. Another important representation I have decided to focus on is location as there will be a lot of travelling around in the video, like the plane/coach/train rides to festivals, as well as exploring around the beach/festival atmosphere. The video will end with the girl feeling fully satisfied with her summer and pay respects to her dead relative. The narrative will be cyclical, and will end in the same position of the girl at the relatives grave. Narrative #2 The main representation for this video is Location. A group of friends win a holiday in a competition. ...

RESEARCH- 'ALONE NO MORE' VIDEO ANALYSIS

Image
Philip George – Alone No More I have chosen the music video of ‘Alone No More’ by Philip George as inspiration for my video because I feel it very much portrays codes and conventions, as well as representations which I wish to include in my video. The video is shot in Mallorca, and focuses on the journey of a young, attractive, heterosexual couple’s holiday abroad. It features a lot of love, affection, having fun and things a young audience can relate to, as well as adventure and excitement they experience on holiday together. Although there is no clear beginning, middle, end narrative, an underlying romantic storyline is still being portrayed as the audience experiences the couples holiday with them.   The artist isn’t featured in the video, which attracted me to the video as firstly, I of course can’t feature my artist either, but most importantly because it allows more room for a clear, detailed narrative to be portrayed. The video is dominated...

LINKING MEDIA PRODUCTS (100 words)

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (100 words) It is vital to have a highly consistent brand synergy across media forms, and have recognition from the music video to the website. This ensures the brand identity of the artist is fully established. Ways to illustrate this is to use consistent images of the artist on the homepage and use the colour scheme from the video on the website to appeal to the audience. The audience will be directed to the music video from the website, forming an inter-connection, creating synergy. Social media will demonstrate digital convergence because the inclusion of Twitter, Facebook and other accounts will allow audiences to comment on the video and the website, providing opportunity for linkage between differing media forms.

STATEMENT OF INTENT- WEBSITE

Statement of Intent - Website   Within my website, I plan to use appropriate codes and conventions to suit the chosen genre of my video, meaning I have to include a ‘house-dance style’ website. To do this, I have to have a distinguished logo, as well as a striking menu bar which can guide my culturally sophisticated audience to links they want to click on. The menu bar will be located at the top of the page as it contains the most importance and is placed, by hierarchy at the top of the page. The function of the website is to promote the new release of the music video, as well as to promote the artist, their music, and release important tour dates. My other main hope of the website is for it to give new music from the artist and exclusive, breaking news to the audience which are all presented on the homepage. These pieces of information will be changed regularly depending on the artists lifestyle, and the events that occurs. I also hope to include an audio/visual link to th...

STATEMENT OF INTENT- MUSIC VIDEO

Statement of Intent  My music video will portray themes of youth, freedom and escapism throughout, complimenting the genre and demonstrating codes and conventions throughout because the name of my chosen song is ‘Younger’, and the key message of the song is outlining that ‘you aren’t getting any younger’, which compliments my key theme of youth within my video. The narrative will follow two girls' summer, one of them being the artist of the track. They will take part in new and exciting activities in different locations, such as surfing at the beach, going to festivals and London. These locations are specifically designed to appeal to target audience, being both aspirational and accessible. Representations of social groups shall be shown through young males and females, looking at the interplay between them as reflected through the song’s message. The video will meet the expectations of a 'house-dance' genre as it will include constant shots of the girls behind, followi...

PLANNING- MOODBOARD

Image
15. Create a mood board. Write a short entry on why you have used what you have on the board and it  conforms to the expectations of your music genre The song I am creating my music video to is called “Younger”, and the main message echoed throughout the video is “You ain’t getting any younger”. The first image on my mood board is a picture of a grave  and is there to be used as a symbol of the opposite of youth, freedom and happiness which is what the leading female protagonist in the music video has throughout the video . This symbol is used to motivate her to live her life to the full potential, and book a flight so she can go travelling with her best friend, rather than living a life of unhappiness. The following images are an airport and a plane flying through the sky to show their journey to a new, exciting place. The remaining images consist of cliffs over the sea, crowds at a festival, camping, rides and swimming in the sea. All these conventions are...
